This morning started out a bit like a sitcom… “honey, where are my keys?” “I think in the van between the seats”…creak, groan…”what’s wrong?” “the dog pooed at the door” cleaning ensues. Find the keys, another kiss out the door…wife crawls back to bed hoping for a few more minutes before the baby awakes (it’s 6:30 am, and husband is late to work) door opens minutes later… “the car won’t start”…sigh. "Take the van, I’ll call AAA."
Later that morning (this morning)
22 month old refuses to wear diaper. Mom “decides” we are doing potty training and puts potty in living room, leaving baby without bottoms for the morning. Toddler “helping” mommy put up tree by taking every ornament off the tree that she puts on. (after she took an hour trying to figure out which plug went where to get the lights to work) the sound of liquid hitting the wood floor…lightning reflexes get toddler to potty in time for last few drops to go inside potty- “YAY!!!” “You did it!!!” “T-T in potty!” (as she then goes to clean up pee in potty and on floor)
A few hours later…
Man from AAA arrives. Toddler has big boy undies on, mom is watching like a hawk for signs of needing to go. Then she has to go outside for a few minutes…little boy comes to door…mommy realizes he needs to go…too late…more cleaning ensues
The car still does not start, needs new battery. Husband must pick it up on way home…and put it in tonight…before church practice ( ½ an hour after he gets home)- so mommy can go to practice and daddy can stay at practice while mommy takes little one home…and dinner must be on table so we can eat as a family?! Sigh.
Thankfully dinner is made…hopefully daddy will have time to eat it.
